Rated 5 out of 5 by Time on the Water Canada from Perfection I have owned just about every high end reel on the market and this is the best. I am an avid tournament angler and fish every day. I need work horse reels that never bind, the bail stays closed, the drag is as smooth even when almost locked. I need reels that distribute line evenly on the spool and won't allow coils to fall off when the spool is full. This reel is so light I can use it for hours without feel fatigued. The body allows the transmission of every little tick at the bait. There is no better reel on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Crave2fish from Great spinning reel When you fish holding a rod and reel for 8+ hours during a day on the water, you want to make sure they are light weight and of high quality. This reel is one of the lightest reels I've found compared to competition in same size. The drag on this reel is so smooth you almost can't tell when a fish is taking line. The bail will close using handle if you want, with out issue, which isn't always the case in lower quality reels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wsteven2 from Good Reel with very smooth action Reel is smooth and sensitive yet strong with a drag system quick and easy to set while a live one is on the line. I run braided type lines for deep reservoirs fishing and found that the Pflueger Reels out Perform every time flawlessly. Just do regular maintenance and you will see years of performance oldest one in my collection of daily use reels is 10 years now and still excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Northern MI Fishing from Very nice reel! I have my Patriarch XT (35) paired with a St. Croix 6'6" Avid X rod. The combination is extremely lightweight, and it is highly effective when I am catching walleye and smallmouth bass. I even had a massive chinook salmon surprise me this past year, and the Patriarch XT helped me bring it in with ease. This is a great reel, and I feel that it is worth every penny. *I also have the President (35) and President XT (25), and they are both excellent spinning reels as well. From my experiences; you can't go wrong with Pflueger!

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeFLORIDA from Smooth Super light and silky smooth. A little small for the inshore jacks and ladyfish but can handle it if paired with a stiffer rod. Love my little XT since I couldn't afford a Stella thought I would try it and it is a great little reel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ryan86 from Extremely light!... anti-reverse sucks in cold wea I own 3 of these Patriach XT's, they are extremely light. After 2 years of year round use, I am forced to bump down to a lower quality model (= heavier), or switch to a different brand (Stratic Ci4+). This is because of a major issue encountered while fighting a fish in weather at the cusp of freezing temperatures. The anti-reverse slips on it's own, causing the reel to spin backwards. If you have good tension on a fish and let go of your reel hand to grab the net in cold temperatures, I guarantee this reel is going to slip. I have tried all 3 of my Patriarch XTs while cold weather steelhead fishing, and all three gave me the slip several times. That being said, if you fish in Florida, this is the best (and lightest) reel money can buy. I hope they can fix this issue...

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jbangler from Disappointing.. Not even a year old and the anti reverse skips randomly costing me to lose several fish now and makes a giant mess of your line. For the money I paid I expected much much better..awesome looking reel, poor performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OrangeBeachChris from Light, smooth and a great drag system I have had many Pfluegers but never any of the higher end models. Last year I tried the Patriarch XT and I'm glad I did. I matched it up with a Fenwick Elite Tech Inshore and it's become one of my favorites for inshore saltwater fishing. Although not advertised as a saltwater model, it has held up extremely well and so far zero issues. The extremely light weight helps when throwing lures for hours.
