Rated 5 out of 5 by nicg4360 from Wonderful thing of beauty. It astounds me how underrated this reel is. I did a lot of research around for a good reel to get into baitcasting after years of using spinning reels and this one seemed to have everything I would want for far less than other reels I was considering. When I got the package I was blown away at how nice it looked. After I was done looking over it I was just hoping it would fish as good as it looked. I paired it up with a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth and my word this thing is light! The Fenwick Rod almost seems designed for it. What was interesting was on Fenwicks facebook page they have a pic of them using this combination. Back to the reel.... it is light, so comfortable and easy to set up. Its hard to take your eyes off it for a bit as it is that nice looking. After a few casts you can tell the quality of the reel. Sooo smooth and as long as you have it set up correctly it will stay that way. If anyone was considering baitcasting this is a reel I would recommend to learn on. Its very forgiving and just feels like the business. I was only miffed it did not come with a reel cover like the previous Patriarch. Pflueger remedied that quickly sending me one in the mail after I asked if it was supposed to include one. It was not but they sent it to me anyways no charge whatsoever. Just was nice to have so many things start on the right foot with my first pflueger product. The previous reviewer was right, you would be short changing yourself not to look into one of these. Tight lines!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JDoles from Massively exceeded my expectations After much research and deliberation I purchased this reel over the abu revo stx and shimano chronarch, which was very unexpected because I have been an abu garcia fan all my life and typically associated the pflueger name with entry level reels (I know they are both pure fishing brothers). That misconception has been shattered to say the least, you need to put your hands on this thing to understand the quality. One of the best features is that the side panel is fixed to the reel for adjusting the centrifugal brake, you flip a tab rotate a small turn and the hinged side pops loose. What this means is that you are not fumbling with a screw and then separating your reel into two pieces...which always calls forth images of half my reel at the bottom of the lake. I have logged about ten hours with the reel so far and have had zero issues, zero noise/rattle when spooled and under load, and wonderful fill up your palm comfort. The reel itself is lighter than the abu/shimano offerings at this price point, but has absolutely no flex when you are fighting fish. It is a little wider than some of the competition which is nice if you have bigger hands because your fingers can comfortably sit on the blank and not mashed under, curled around, or awkwadly in front of the gear box. I also notice that on my veritas rod the gear box is actually level with the rod this was a happy, comfortable surprise. Time will tell how this holds up but the drag performed smooth and strong, the Eva grips are exceedingly comfortable. So far I am the happiest of campers. One knock I have found is that the face does not cover the line guide well as it tracks back and forth due to the tapered shape. It does not interfere I just think it could, at some odd angles, rest on the line guide if it were at the far right or far left positions rather than the frame if it were set down. I would not want to let this rest anywhere other than my hands without a thick neoprene cover because of this fact. Also not pictured, noted anywhere is the fact that this reel DOES have a grease port underneath the main gear housing for quick lubing if necessary. Check this out for sure before purchasing a chronarch/revo, informed consumers are wise consumers. The components are high quality and this thing beats the heck out of both aesthetically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RyanFishing from Best Reel This is an absolute beast reel. I have had 3 of these reels for about 2 years now and have put them through an extremely tough beating. I treat my reels well with oiling them and keeping them nice but I make them work hard. These reels have stood up very well compared to other reels at and above $200. This reel should really cost more than $200 with how good it is. I would highly highly suggest getting this reel. You won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mjcmichigan from Patriarch is rock solid i picked up #3 and #4, so my fishing buddies can have one too. Bought 2 for a trip last year, wow. It was my first time out with a baitcaster and I quickly figured out this one. Balanced the reel to the lure and rod.. and started chucking it out there and dropping it on a dime. only 0-3 backlashes/day and none took as many as 5 seconds to clear. A couple of the long time bait caster guys were using Revo's and Lew's, they were stunned i was out casting them on distance and accuracy. Pflueger.. nice job on these reels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Grumpy from Pflueger-Patriarch I have two low profile presidents and two spinning presidents, so I bought a Patriarch knowing that it would be a good reel. Well as expected, I can only say that it is as smooth and quiet as my other Pfluegers and I enjoyed catching a few nice Salmon on the first day out. They put up a fight but were in the boat like they should be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stratos 1 from Solid Feeling Baitcasting Reel I received my Patriarch reel only two weeks ago. It looks great and feels like a very well built reel. It is hard for me to offer 5 stars since lakes are currently frozen in northeastern Indiana. But should it perform like it feels and looks, its a keeper... Only problem I had was with Fedex. It took daily phone calls spread over 4 days to finally have it delivered. After reviewing their service rating across the country, I'm one of many with a valid complaint. I will avoid the mode of transportation at all cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Salmonella24 from Solid Reel, mediocre casting distance The build quality is top notch, can't figure out why it doesn't cast as far as my Abu or Quantums? I will look into getting boca bearings installed. Love the quality of the reel, the castability is a killer for me. I cast a mile with other reels, this one casts noticeably shorter in distance. I guess that makes it fine for flipping but eliminates other fishing techniques that require longer casts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeyB TrX20 from ...I bought 3 Top three reel brand period. My first experience with Pfluger was a Supreme reel at 99 bucks from Cabelas. One the best reels I own. So when the chance to own the higher end reels was available.....I bought 3.....couldnt be happier....cant wait til that first cast with all three.
