Models in the 1400 and 1500 series
- Get a tiny flathead screwdriver, preferably a magnetic one. You'll also need a paper towel or napkin
- Remove the spool.
- On the frame, see the center post encircled by a metal ring and black gear.
- Wipe off the grease.
- Remove the 2 screws holding the 2 rings in place.
- Remove the metal ring. Be careful to keep it face up.
- Remove the black gear. Turn it face down. Note the tiny black plastic pawl. It sets on a tiny spring. Don't drop this.
- Replace the black gear, face down and the metal ring face up. Gently jiggle the gear in place on the tiny pawl. Hold in place and tighten down the screws.
- Now, put the spool back in. Palm the reel in your LEFT hand. Turn the crank forward. It should be free spinning. Now turn the crank toward you. You should feel a little resistance. SUCCESS!
- The only thing left is to change the location of the pillars. That's it.
